Laserbond Laser Cladding

Product/Service Name

LaserBond laser cladding acheives a welded bond with limited and precisely controlled heat input. Heat sensitive components, such as hardened shafts, gears etc, can be repaired without risk of distortion or other undesirable heat effects.

Function/Applications
The metallurgical bond allows LaserBond applied layers to be used in high impact and other heavily loaded situations. With this welded bond, we can guarantee a LaserBond laser cladding layer will not come off.

The controlled energy minimises the undesirable thermal decomopsition of hard phases such as carbides, resulting in superior wear resistance. Due to the extremely low dilution with the substrate, high performance surfaces can be applied in a thin layer. Corrosion and wear resistant surfaces as thin as 0.3mm are possible.

Heat affected zones are minimised and the cracking inherent in weld hard facing eliminated.

Typical Laserbond Laser Cladding applied materials include Tungsten Carbide, tool steels, stainless steels, Nickel alloys such as Inconel, Cobalt alloys such as Stellite and Copper Alloys.

Differentiating Features
We have designed and built our LaserBond Laser Cladding system to be very flexible. Very small components up to large rolls of 1600mm diameter and 6m length can be processed. Hard to reach areas such as inside diameters and recesses (eg: crankshaft pins) can also be repaired.
