Italian printing machinery manufacturer Moss has announced that it has released an upgraded version of its SMV-3 silk screen printers, suitable for decorating and lacquering a range of products.

Products that can be decorated and lacquered with these screen printers include:

  • plastic cylindrical containers
  • closures
  • syringes; and
  • flexible tubes.

SMV-3 printers are capable of printing in multiple colours, and offer high output levels of up to 150 pieces per minute. Printing modules are driven by servo-motors working in synchronism with container rotation, and are fully adjustable from the included touch screen monitor.

A number of key improvements have been introduced in the upgraded design of these machines to provide improved printing accuracy, and higher cost savings through reduced handling. A new decoration unit has also been added, where a printing squeegee is driven by a linear motor with electrical control.

Additional modules are available for the updated SMV-3 screen printers that enable hot stamping, digital transfer, and quality control with cameras.

This allows the printers to change configuration from silk screen UV to a hybrid silk screen printer, allowing for combinations of silk screen decoration with other decorating technologies such as hot stamping or embossing. This streamlines the printing process and eliminates the need for transferring the product to a second machine.

Moss is represented in Oceania by HBM Packaging & Plastics Technologies .
