Benco Pack SpA of Italy has announced that the patent for its integrated Form-Fill-Seal sleeve label application has been fully approved by the European Patent Office as of 18th October 2006 (European Patent Nr. 1587736).
The original idea, presented at Anuga 2003, was reconfirmed at Anuga FoodTech in April 2006, and was the result of three years of pilot tests and ongoing continuous development.
As a result of cooperation with partner/customers such as Leche Pascual (Spanish based European market leader for aseptic products), the Form-Fill-Seal sleeve label application technology has reached a high level of reliability.
The technology represents real innovation in the sector because of the significant advantages the Form-Fill-Seal sleeve label application offers in terms of package appeal and material cost saving, compared to the traditionally paper-labelled thermoformed cups or with pre-made cups.
With ISA (Integrated Sleeve Applicator), it is now possible to label thermoformed containers directly on the line, with outputs ranging from 12 to 48,000 containers/hour. All Benco Pack machines (including fully aseptic models) can be equipped with the ISA function.
With four machines already supplied and two orders under construction, the technology is being well received by the food/beverage industry.
Benco Pack offers Form Fill Seal systems for mini-portions and single and thermoformed cups, in hygienic, ultra clean and aseptic versions, with over 350 machine installations worldwide.
Benco Pack is represented in Australia by HBM Packaging Technologies .
