Neue Herbold has introduced the new HZR 1300/4 pipe shredders for the plastics industry.
Specifically designed for the effective pre-cutting of thick-walled, high impact plastic pipes sized to a maximum of 1200mm diameter and 6m in length, the pipe shredders offer a maximum capacity of 3000kg per hour depending on the impact resistance and wall thickness of the pipes.
Based in Sinsheim, Germany, Neue Herbold is a global specialist in the production of size reduction machinery such as granulators, grinders and pulverisers among others.
The pipes are laterally fed through a feed trough positioned in front of the shredder and automatically pushed towards the shredder shafts with a load control system consisting of a ram driven by a geared motor via a steel cable.
The pipe shredders have a solid welded annealed steel construction with all bearings, gear drives and motors externally mounted for ease of maintenance. The shredders also feature a Siemens Simatic S7 touch screen HMI for user-friendly control.
HZR 1300/4 shredders have four shredder shafts driven by 30kW motors using reversible blades supported on a V-shaped profile on the rotor shafts. These features combined with a toothed stator blade ensure a consistent low impact cutting action.
Following the pipe cutting, a granulator is used for final size reduction of the material to a free-flowing regrind. The two-step solution cuts energy costs by up to 50%.
Neue Herbold is represented by HBM Packaging & Plastics Technologies in Oceania.
