World leading plastics processing machinery specialist, Krauss Maffei of Munich, Germany has delivered another CX 420-3500 injection moulding machine to Plast3 Srl of Veneto, Italy.
The injection moulding machine is being used to manufacture red, white and transparent rectangular carry boxes made of recycled PET for world renowned furniture manufacturer, IKEA.
Managing Partner of Plast3, Ivano Castelli explained that certain energy efficiency criteria had to be met to qualify as an IKEA manufacturer, which led to the decision to purchase Krauss Maffei machinery. The ‘Blue Power’ energy saving procedures such as cylinder insulation and short cycle times were a decisive factor in their purchase decision.
The Krauss Maffei ‘Blue Power’ program boasts a number of innovations designed to slash energy consumption all along the drive train of their machines. The energy requirements of the hydraulic drives are optimised by the use of servo motors, which adapt the speed of pumps to minimise idling losses, leading to 50% savings over previous solutions.
Plast3 also uses the machinery to manufacture one-piece PET child safety seat inserts.
Plast3, part of the Pezzutti Group, a multi-million dollar plastics company has recently purchased one MX 850-1200 and three CX 420-3500 injection moulding machines, complete with robots from Krauss Maffei.
