Krauss Maffei of Munich, Germany recently won the tender to supply an Injection Moulding Compounder (IMC) machine for the new Automotive Centre Sudwestfalen in Germany. Krauss Maffei is a world-leading manufacturer and supplier of plastics processing machinery.
A joint venture between local universities and municipalities in Germany, the Automotive Centre aims to encourage automotive manufacturers to develop new lightweight solutions for automotive part production as well as consider alternative materials and new material combinations.
Krauss Maffei supplied an MX 1300-14000 IMC with bolt-on BO-L 4300 unit and an MC5 touch control system together with an industrial robot for handling the parts. With the ability to compound and mould special reinforced resins that can be used in the drive for lighter components in the automotive industry, the machine is ideally suited for the development of new materials.
The IMC delivers excellent melt homogeneity and mixing efficiency, resulting in optimal part quality and enabling components to be manufactured with any mix of filler, reinforcement and substitution materials.
Krauss Maffei is represented in Oceania by HBM Packaging & Plastics Technologies .
