The Borouge Innovation (Laboratory) Centre has ordered a complete polyolefins (PO) pipe extrusion line from Krauss Maffei for its new Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi to be installed by the end of 2011.
The Borouge Innovation Centre is a leading German provider of innovative plastics solutions. Krauss Maffei Extrusion of Munich, Germany is a world leader in plastics machinery.
Krauss Maffei will supply a KME 60-36 B/R single screw extruder, the KM-RKW 32 and KM-RKW 33 pipe heads and corresponding downstream components for the diameter range 12mm-63mm. The pipe extrusion line will be equipped with two pipe heads to allow for quick and flexible product changes.
The system will be used in the development laboratory for different tests such as the testing of the development stages of various PO materials including HD-PE, LD-PE, PP-HM and PP-R. They will also develop pipes in diameter ranges of 12 to 63mm at line speeds of between 2.8 and 100 m/min.
Petri Lehmus, Borouge Innovation Centre Manager says that they were impressed with the excellent quality of the pipe extrusion lines as well as their extreme efficiency and high flexibility in the use of different materials.
The Borouge Innovation Centre will work in conjunction with more than 50 international researchers and engineers in Europe to focus on innovations for compounding and innovative plastic solutions for the infrastructure, automotive and advanced packaging industries.
