Benco Pack SpA of Italy, a leading supplier of aseptic form fill seal machines will showcase their updated FFS Packline machine featuring a unique integrated sleeve applicator at the Anuga FoodTec show to be held in Cologne, Germany from March 27 to March 30.
Capable of producing thermoformed containers from 250gm to 500gm, the FFS Packline has been modified to take full advantage of the patented Integrated Sleeve Applicator (ISA). The ISA ‘shrink-sleeves’ are tubular labels made of plastic material that adhere as a skin onto the walls of the cup through a heat-shrinking process, allowing for customised shapes as well as enhanced shelf appeal with brighter graphics compared to paper labels.
Key enhancements in the FFS Packline with ISA:
- Suction and air blowing system minimises defects and eliminates excessive vapour in the pre-fixing and shrink-wrapping zone
- Motor trolley enhanced to increase the speed
- Cam sleever no longer inserted into the collection box allowing for easier cleaning
- Tab sensor reader minimises downtime allowing for faster restarts
Using a three-step packaging and filling process, containers are thermoformed from a roll of multi-layer barrier plastic film (PS/EVO/PE or similar), filled with product, closed by a thermo sealed peelable lid, labelled and then cut to the desired configuration.
Steam and hydrogen peroxide sprays are used to pre-sterilise the machine and maintain it in sterile conditions. The packaging materials are sterilised with the process occurring inside a tunnel with an overpressure of sterile air.
In addition to dairy products, the aseptic form fill seal machines find application in filling of isotonic drinks, juices, UHT dairy long life products, puddings and desserts. Multipacks of different flavours with matching relevant labels are also possible.
Benco Pack offers form fill seal systems for mini-portions as well as single and thermoformed cups in Hygienic, Ultra Clean and Aseptic versions, with over 350 machine installations worldwide.
Benco Pack is represented in Oceania by HBM Packaging & Plastics Technologies .
