Shiny granite, ceramic and porcelain tiles were chosen for a prestigious Melbourne residence to provide a beautiful, high sheen floor surface. However, the owners had concerns about the safety of the floor surface as they felt the floors were slippery, especially when wet, and wanted to ensure the floors were safe for family and friends.
Grip Guard Non Slip was contacted by the tile supplier to see whether an anti-slip treatment could be installed to increase the slip resistance of their client’s floors without changing the colour and sheen of the surface. A Grip Guard Non Slip operator visited the residence and provided obligation free slip resistance testing using an ASM slip meter. The results of the slip testing indicated that the floor surface was unsafe, particularly when wet.
The Grip Guard Non Slip operator then treated a small area of the granite floor and the surface was re-tested. The homeowners were impressed by the increased slip resistance from Grip Guard Non Slip’s anti-slip treatment and the lustre and colour of granite floor remained unchanged.
The anti-slip treatment from Grip Guard Non Slip was used to treat the granite tiles on the patios, porcelain tiles around the swimming pool and ceramic tiles in the laundry and bathroom. The slip resistance of all these surfaces was measured after the anti-slip treatment and found at a safe level.
