CAMOZZI Pneumatics, distributed by Griffiths Components , has made a series of technological improvements to its international standard ISO valves.
This type of pneumatic valve is used primarily to control pneumatic operations that require all components of the system to be interchangeable with any brand, should there be a breakdown, or integration of new components.
In other words, if an ISO valve is installed, rather than a standard valve, of any particular brand of pneumatics, the valve can be swapped with the ISO valve of any other pneumatic brand.
The standard specifies the placement of holes and ports on the valve, but not the overall dimensions, where there will often be a slight variance between brands. The flow rate will also vary a little, as will the actuating force.
Camozzi recently reduced the overall dimension of its ISO valves, made them lighter; reduced their power consumption to improve their environmental friendliness; and reduced heat emission from the solenoids, should they be mounted.
Pneumatic ISO valves come in three sizes. Size 1 has 1/8" bsp ports, Size 2 has 1/4" bsp ports, and size 3 has 1/2" bsp ports. All sizes have international standard sub-bases they can be mounted on.
As with most styles of pneumatic valves, there are many versions to suit the application. The most common are air signal operated and solenoid operated, with a spring return, or a signal return.
