Graco  EP hose pumps are being employed by Hindustan Unilever Limited to transfer mango pulp from 200-litre barrels to a 4m high tank.

Hindustan Unilever is the Indian arm of Unilever, a Fortune 500 global company, selling its brands in about 100 countries worldwide.

The company sought an efficient way to transfer mango pulp from barrels to a tank to meet the challenges of increasing mango pulp production volume. With a viscosity of 17,000+ centipoise, the mango pulp caused a long batch time issue during the unloading process. A screw and gear pump with 17 horsepower could not resolve the batching time and maintenance issues.

Seeking a more reliable way to transfer the mango pulp, Hindustan Unilever decided to trial the new Graco EP hose pump. Displaying more beneficial features than the current in-plant pumps for a similar application, the Graco hose pump impressed the client with its hose quality and single roller design.

The EP hose pump model EP4029 with EPDM food grade hose with VFD was suggested as the optional solution.

Following the installation of the pump, the mango pulp is being transferred more quickly to the satisfaction of the client. Featuring a 2 horsepower motor, the new system offers impressive performance over pneumatic and similar pumps.

Another successful trial involved the use of the EP hose pump with a sugar application. Hindustan Unilever plans to update this line in the future by replacing the 17 horsepower blending centrifugal pump with Graco EP hose pumps.
