A new video released by Global Pumps explains to users how to read an air operated diaphragm pump (AOD) curve.
These graphs describe the relationship between the pressure/flow of the liquid being pumped and the pressure/flow of the compressed air required for pumping. Users of AOD pumps can learn how much air pressure and air flow will be needed to operate their pump at a specific duty point (described in terms of the liquid flow rate and discharge pressure of the pump).
Alternatively, given the air supply pressure and process fluid flow rate, the information allows them to determine the airflow and liquid discharge pressure from the pump described.
Presented in a concise and straightforward form, the video outlines the important features of the AOD pump curve and explains the information it contains with colour-coded graphics and easy to understand narrative.
The video will be useful for existing AOD pump users who can refresh their knowledge about the graph, as well as those who are new to the subject and can learn to easily interpret the curves found on an AOD pump performance graph.
Additionally, the video explains how to interpolate between the curves in case the duty point does not fall exactly on one of the predetermined curves. The video will also enable the customer to determine whether the pump will be adequately sized for their use.
