Verderflex peristaltic pumps available from Global Pumps are suitable for pumping concrete mixtures.

Composed of cement and various ingredients such as limestone, gravel, granite and fly ash as well as soft-grind components including sand and water, concrete is a very heavy fluid, with high viscosity and abrasive properties.

A Research Institute for Building Materials in the Czech Republic wanted to develop a concrete blend for different kinds of concrete products such as sound screens around the freeway, bottom covers for street lighting and underground cable channels. This type of concrete blend is very economical as it does not need any surface finish or paint, is cheaper than common metal and is also lighter than metal or cast iron.

Fibreglass concrete properties can be very solid and massive, and pumping this concrete is not easy due to the highly viscous and abrasive properties. For instance, pumping with a centrifugal pump, screw pump or air operated diaphragm pump is not possible due to the high viscosity; most pumps will not support the abrasive mixture; and gear pumps are not suitable as these would cause floating problems.

Verderflex peristaltic pumps offer a very economical and efficient solution for pumping concrete. The excellent durability and long life of Verderflex hoses eliminate any problem from the viscous and abrasive concrete mixture.

Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps dose the concrete mixture into mouldings to create the end product, such as sound screens, bottom covers of street lighting or underground cable channels.
