Global Pumps  supplied a Verderflex peristaltic hose pump to an industrial wastewater treatment company requiring a cost effective solution for pumping liquid polymer.

The company, which designed, manufactured and constructed industrial wastewater treatment plants, sought a solution to pump a polyelectrolyte. The helical rotor pump used previously was not satisfactory in terms of costs.

The pump would need to transfer liquid polymer, a thick, viscous liquid with a kerosene (hydrocarbon) carrier of around 30%.

The company sought a solution, which would not only be more cost effective than the helical rotor pump, but would also be compatible with the current system; the hose would also need to last longer than three months.

After analysing the customer's current system and their specific requirements, Global Pumps supplied a Verderflex peristaltic hose pump.

Key benefits of Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps in similar applications include a low shear operation that can handle the pumping of the polymer; ability to handle viscous liquids; good metering/dosing capability of ±5% accuracy; easy servicing with only one wearing part; and longer hose life than conventional hose pumps.

Installed and in operation for more than eight months now, the Verderflex peristaltic hose pump is still performing well and the customer is extremely satisfied with the improved operations as well as cost efficiency.
