Distributors of Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps in Australia and New Zealand, Global Pumps assisted a copper mining company located in North Australia with an effective pumping solution for slurry transfer.

Mining processes involve the transfer of slurries that often contain solids in excess of 80% by weight and specific gravity above 2.0. Highly abrasive and corrosive in nature, the slurries can damage conventional pumps used for the application.

However, Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps are ideal for pumping these slurries since they have a highly engineered, reinforced hose and are also very resistant to the abrasion of slurry particles.

The copper mining company faced numerous problems with the pumping of slurries that not only contained particles but also highly corrosive sulphuric acid. Verderflex hose pump model VF50 was recommended as a solution for their application.

The copper mining company initially installed a few of the VF50 hose pumps and found them to be highly successful in transferring the corrosive slurries. The success of the trial led the company to install many more of these peristaltic pumps.

In addition to enabling the highly efficient transfer of slurries, Verderflex hose pumps also have a low maintenance requirement since only the long-life hose comes in contact with the hazardous slurries. The hoses can also be replaced very easily.

The copper mining company has standardised on Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps for pumping highly hazardous chemicals.

Global Pumps has supplied Verderflex peristaltic hose pumps to a number of chemical and mining processing plants in Australia and New Zealand.
