Glama-Pak has recently purchased KBA Rapida 205, a big sheetfed press.
A five unit plus coater version of the press will be installed in Glama-Pak’s Sydney production centre on December, 2008 and will be operational by February 2009.
Glama-Pak works in the litho laminated corrugated packaging market and also produces displays, POS materials, posters and maps. It also prints on semi-rigid plastics.
The $12 million investment also includes an increase in the size of its joint Glama-Pak and Ace Displays Milperra factory by 50%, to 120,000 square feet.
Glama-Pak Director, John Wheeler said “There is a need for a highly specified large format press in Sydney. This includes a large amount of screen printed work that would ebenefit from an move to large format offset.”
The installation will also include a new large format CTP system, with four suppliers currently vying for the sale.
