Getex take up underground storage tank decommissioning and removal project

Over the course of the project period, Getex provided environmental and OHS supervision or management of the project which included:

• The development of UST safe removal procedures
• Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for all contractors associated with the works
• Selection and safe management of UST residue pump out and disposal techniques
• Continual atmospheric monitoring for potentially toxic and explosive gases within and surrounding work areas
• Routine integrity inspections of environmental, erosion and sedimentation controls to ensure prevention of possible contaminant migration while the stockpiled soils and open excavation pits remained on site during the project
• UST clearance atmospheric testing to allow safe handling and transport of the UST and associated infrastructure
• Environmental testing and analysis of residual soils for possible ground contamination present after UST removal and
• Waste classification reports for appropriate disposal of contaminated soil surrounding the UST excavation areas
