Gekko Systems has signed a collaborative agreement with Newcrest Mining Limited to undertake a three-year research and development program.
Key focus areas of the collaboration between the Gekko and Newcrest teams will include improvements in energy efficiency, reduced operating costs, increased recovery and faster project implementation time.
The Gekko and Newcrest teams will include experienced professionals in the areas of engineering, metallurgy, process control and electronics.
A world leader in the area of continuous gravity separation systems in the gold sector, Gekko Systems is supported by its 30-strong global gold technical team and the company’s design and construct capabilities.
Newcrest aims to benefit from the collaboration through the application of concepts to optimise crushing and grinding, utilising technologies and flowsheets that focus on gangue rejection, pre-concentration and liberation at coarse grind size.
The collaboration agreement will cover projects consisting of existing operating sites as well as future mines. Laboratory, large scale and pilot test work will be used to confirm the application of preliminary work into larger scale applications.
Clear targets have been established by the combined R&D team to monitor and assess project benefits for Newcrest.
