Sandy Gray, co-founder and Technical Director at Gekko Systems was devastated to discover that the prestigious Clunies Ross Medal he was awarded in 2002 was stolen overnight.

Burglars broke into Gekko System's head office on Learmonth Road and stole the medal in the early hours of the morning.

Sandy, one of Ballarat's prominent inventors, was awarded the Clunies Ross National Science and Technology Award for his significant and ongoing contribution to improvements in the mining industry.

"I am surprised that the thieves stole a medal which would only have value to a small number of people in the community but is of great sentimental value to myself," commented Sandy.
