Gates Australia will be showcasing its full line of industry-leading solutions at the upcoming QME 2014.
Gates offers innovative solutions for surface, underground or longwall mines, all designed to keep the equipment operational and productive. Gates’ high quality, advanced hose and belt drive systems are designed to take on the rugged, abrasive conditions found at any mine site.
Equipment reliability and uptime are critical factors in any mining operation. Gates offers a complete line of hydraulics, hoses, couplings, and power transmission products that ensure the mine can keep up with demand by dramatically improving uptime, reliably backed by services designed to help the operation reduce inventory expenses and improve safety.
Gates longwall mining solutions
Conditions in longwall mines can wreak havoc on equipment and personnel alike. It is therefore important for the mining operation to ensure that the equipment can withstand the pressure without forcing workers into dangerous situations.
Gates iLok couplings release residual pressure away from workers, providing a secure, visible, and easily functioning locking system, eliminating the need for workers to resort to dangerous methods to move them.
Conventional staple-lock couplings take about 20 minutes to de-couple, which, on a longwall miner with 500 connections, means 10,000 minutes or nearly 167 man-hours of labour just to disconnect the fittings. Gates iLok couplings can be safely disconnected in 2 minutes or less, for a total of 17 man-hours of labour, a decrease of 90 per cent over traditional couplings.
Gates hydraulic hose solutions meet or exceed industry standards and resist abrasion, making them perfect for harsh environmental conditions. By powering longwall mining equipment with Gates’ solutions, mining operations can continue safely without employing hazardous practices or wasting unnecessary time and energy.
