Leading organisations Woolworths, Coles, Netcash and Costco have announced their support for GS1 Recallnet, the industry’s tool for effective management of recall and withdrawal notifications.
The organisations now call upon their trading partners to work with them by registering on the GS1 Recallnet portal.
Current processes for issuing recalls and withdrawals do not ensure the delivery of the right information to the right people at the right time. The GS1 Recallnet initiative is an industry-wide effort to improve and standardise recall and withdrawal notifications.
Developed by industry for industry, GS1 Recallnet accelerates product recalls and withdrawals by simplifying and automating the exchange of information between suppliers, distributors, retailers as well as government agencies such as FSANZ and the ACCC.
For suppliers, the online portal makes it easier to accurately issue these notifications to customers in a timely manner, speeding up the information flow, eliminating confusion and saving money. Recalled products can then be quickly removed from sale and supply, thereby protecting the brand and consumers.
Given the positive benefits that GS1 Recallnet brings to the industry and the safety of their customers, these organisations have been encouraging their trading partners to incorporate it into their business processes.
GS1 Recallnet is administered by not-for-profit organisation GS1 Australia
on a cost-recovery basis. Access to the portal is available to all suppliers at a low annual fee and includes full training as well as the ability to undertake mock recalls, a critical part of product recall preparation.
