As energy costs rise and concerns for the environment hit the headlines, managers have a new responsibility in addressing energy efficiency concerns in the business. Though executives have always been focused on business growth, all businesses may not be able to support expansion due to power and cooling limitations or spiraling energy costs.

In her role as Energy and Environment Leader for IBM Global Business Services, Gabrielle Aitken has responsibility for helping clients across a broad range of industry sectors create more sustainable business practices to deliver shareholder and customer value while minimising their environmental impact.

Having worked with IBM for over five years, Gabrielle’s role is dedicated to helping clients understand and reduce their carbon footprint and increase their energy efficiency through system and business process improvements. Gabrielle discussed this in depth on Day one of the Impetus 2008 supply chain conference organised by GS1 Australia .
