GS1 Recallnet moves ahead with greater participation from regulatory agencies

Supplier News

GS1 Recallnet, the product recall solution from GS1 Australia has assisted almost 200 Australian food and grocery companies with the standardisation and simplification of their product recall and withdrawal process.

Successfully launched in 2011, GS1 Recallnet is the food and grocery sector’s preferred choice for the initiation and receipt of product recall and withdrawal notifications.

Following the participation of regulatory agencies such as the FSANZ and the ACCC, GS1 Recallnet is now being aided by state based regulatory agencies including Dairy Food Safety Victoria, the Tasmanian Dairy Industry Authority and the NSW Food Authority, allowing subscribers to further improve the efficiency of their communication process.

Major food and grocery retailers such as Coles, Woolworths, Metcash and Costco also continue to play a significant part in the development and industry acceptance of GS1 Recallnet.

More advanced retail users have taken advantage of GS1 Recallnet’s ability to create an electronic file of the product recall notification that can automatically import into their existing systems, improving their speed of response to the product recall message. Some are actively encouraging their trading partners to share in the benefits of exchanging product recall and withdrawal information electronically.

Moving forward, the assistance of industry groups for the healthcare and general merchandise sectors will extend the GS1 Recallnet community even further with benefits for all.
