GE Intelligent Platforms announces the deployment expansion of their Proficy SmartSignal predictive-diagnostic analysis software package with the Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE). From recognition of the initial value achieved by implementing the solution in its coal and combined-cycle plants, the SSE desires to provide the SmartSignal to all its critical equipment across all diversified assets.
The new deployment expansion would also include the SSE’s Keadby and Peterhead plants. GE Intelligent Platform’s Proficy SmartSignal analysis software will cover all combustion turbines and generators, steam turbines and generators, HRSGs, feed pumps, condensers and condensate pumps.
The SSE had chosen to use GE Intelligent Platform’s Proficy SmartSignal, in spring 2010, in order to protect an entire thermal fleet. This protection covered all coal and combined-cycle gas turbine plants in the UK, which consists of 6.5 GW of generating capacity. The SSE’s contract also included GE Intelligent Platform’s Proficy SmartSignal Epi-center solution and the Proficy SmartSignal xConnector software, which provided a comprehensive gateway between Epi-center and the OSIsoft PI System.
GE Intelligent Platforms and SSE will also be partnering together for an innovative R&D project in developing software solutions that provides early warning and location of boiler tube leaks.
