GE Intelligent Platforms Acquires SmartSignal Corporation

GE Intelligent Platforms  has completed the acquisition of SmartSignal, a privately-held analytics software company based in Lisle, Illinois.

SmartSignal specialises in providing remote monitoring and diagnostics solutions to the power generation as well as oil and gas segments among various industrial sectors.

A leading provider of predictive diagnostic software and monitoring services used to anticipate, prevent and avoid equipment failure, SmartSignal has more than 40 product and technology patents, and has won more than 25 awards for product excellence.

SmartSignal’s solutions broaden GE’s software capabilities used to maximise the performance of critical equipment in power generation as well as oil and gas industries.  

Maryrose Sylvester, President and CEO for GE Intelligent Platforms says that the SmartSignal acquisition reflects their commitment to continue investing in their software and services business, serving as an important catalyst to rapidly expand the capabilities of their Operational Intelligence platform.  

The acquisition complements GE’s existing capabilities in diagnostics and equipment analytics, giving them the ability to cover a much wider range of asset types and equipment manufacturers for their customers.  

Jim Gagnard, President and CEO of SmartSignal believes that their solution can help provide a holistic approach to Operational Intelligence across many industries regardless of the type of equipment the customer is trying to manage.

SmartSignal detects and identifies abnormal equipment behaviour, providing exception-based notifications of developing problems along with diagnoses and prioritisations.

Its solutions are found on equipment from GE, Siemens, Rolls Royce, Alstom, Flowserve, Waukesha, Byron Jackson and Cooper-Bessemer among others.
