Bolletje, a Dutch baked goods manufacturer located in the Netherlands, has employed the Proficy Solution, from GE Intelligent Platforms , to help solve production issue problems, such as the variation in the quality of dough from batch to batch.
Proficy Solution provided Bolletje that helped improve quality control but also achieved better line of sight in the inventory and traceability solutions of products travelling from the bakery to the store. The software has been implemented to assist in new production lines for baking cripsbreads, crackers, rusks and biscuits. Proficy Solution had made data collection easier, which helped enable capitalisation of the information that was available.
“We are still implementing elements of the solution, so the full results are a bit down the road. But already, shift leaders are very enthusiastic about the solution,” says B-J Hudepohl, Production Manager for Bolletje.
“They see less waste and new workers are being trained faster ensuring the expertise of seasoned operators is captured. In fact, there has only been one bad batch of pretzels since the system was installed on that line.”
