GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms , a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, have announced an advanced version of their Proficy Change Management, version 5.9, featuring web-based client enhancements that provide users with thin client capability for version control, audit trails and secure access for automation products. The new interface allows end users to locate the project or PLC files that they need to access easily using a configurable HTML-based interface.
According to GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, Proficy Change Management is a key component of the Proficy family of automation software applications. It helps users to meet compliance requirements, and improves processes and key uptime metrics. Proficy Change Management features powerful capabilities including security, version management audit trails, central storage and automated backup and recovery for increased safety and efficiency.
The HTML-based client is thin and easy to deploy with a small footprint that saves users time and effort installing or updating and is an alternative to traditional thick clients. It also provides easy access to common end-user and administrative functions such as check out, check in, open, version reports and compare. The Proficy Change Management 5.9 version provides a low maintenance alternative with an intranet server based deployment and lightweight client installation to reduce the overall cost of maintaining the system.
The Proficy Change Management 5.9 version’s wizard provides the power to support any type of file, document or FTP device. Users can create their own wizard product types by answering key questions about the files they want it to manage, and the Proficy Change Management 5.9 version automatically creates a profile to manage these files. The wizard is pre-configured with standard and FTP templates for handling devices such as robots, vision systems, and CNCs, file upload-download for SCADA systems, PC control systems, and other file storage systems.
The drag-and-drop configuration allows users to easily create a HTML interface to organise projects and provide customised web pages if desired. The client supports hardware from GE Fanuc and third-party products from Rockwell, Siemens, and Schneider.
Proficy Change Management 5.9 version’s new features also assist companies in meeting industry-based governmental regulations such as the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) critical infrastructure protection, faster with a decreased total cost of ownership.
