Fusion Plastics supply PVC spooling for the Gibson Island Water Treatment Scheme. When completed, the facility will have the capacity to provide Southeast Queensland with 100 megalitres of water a day.
Gibson Island advanced water treatment plant was converted from an original 35 to 50 megalitre per day plant design to an innovative design for a 100 megalitre per day plant. Upon completion, Fusion Plastics estimate approximately 40,000 glued Georg Fischer joints have been performed in the fabrication process. The finished design will enable rainwater run-off from the main process building at Gibson Island to be collected and combined with incoming water for treatment.
All PVC spooling has been fabricated and hydro tested at the Archerfield site according to specifications. PVC spooling is then transported to the site where it has been retro fitted by contractors.
This type of PVC spooling can be used for water treatment plants, desalination plants as well as for other marine applications.
