Fresco Systems recently installed a customised cone blender for a customer for mixing specialist anti-metallic reference materials.
The bespoke 50-litre laboratory sized cone blender was designed to meet the customer’s specific requirements. Based on Fresco’s standard cone blender design, the new unit was built to specifications such as homogeneous blending capability, no metallic contact surfaces, easy clean design, and manual loading and unloading.
To achieve this, Fresco designed and manufactured a cone blender with a split body, using a baked-on Teflon coating for the contact surfaces and a plastic discharge valve. The high reduction direct drive geared motor allowed for positioning of the blender in the load and unload positions without the use of an ancillary brake.
The standard range of Fresco cone blenders offers blending capacities from 50 litres to 2,000 litres, and includes braked motors, access hatches for loading and cleaning, as well as various discharge valves and accessories.
Fresco can supply cone blenders constructed in materials to suit the application with polishing to pharmaceutical standards or as required. Safety guarding is also provided including fixed or light curtains to Cat 3 standards.
