Medvet Laboratories displays range of drug testing methods at Freight Expo
A skin-wipe sampling procedure will be part of the Medvet Laboratories drug testing, education and training display at Freight Expo.
The Biosen skin-sampling procedure is as simple as wiping a collection pad on the subject’s forearm and placing it in a machine to be analysed.
Medvet national drug testing manager Steve Korkoneas said the whole process from sample to results took only 90 seconds and was completely non-invasive.
“Drugs and drug metabolites are to a certain extent excreted through the skin, together with sweat and natural oils, which the Biosen collection pad gathers for analysis,” he said.
The Biosen drug skin-sample pad, a non-invasive and quick method of drug-testing is available from Medvet.
“Testing not only provides a visible deterrent to drug users, but also the speed of results gained through an on-site test means that action can be taken immediately, thereby reducing the risk of an incident.
“Any positive tests are sent to the Medvet laboratory for Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) confirmation and results are held in strictest confidence.”
Medvet Laboratories is a national service provider for drug and alcohol testing in the workplace, and offers a range of testing methods including saliva and urine drug testing.
Medvet Laboratories also specialises in education training sessions for management and staff, can advise on workplace drug and alcohol policies and can provide sample collection staff on-call.
