INVENSYS Process Systems has released alarm management services for the I/A series automation system from Foxboro .
Invensys can also provide the services for many other vendors' distributed control systems (DCS). This enables companies to establish, implement and maintain consistent alarm management policies across a multivendor process manufacturing plant, complex or global manufacturing base.
The new services help customers maximise the performance of their installed distributed control systems and other automation assets.
Invensys' process control specialists provide alarm rationalisation, re-engineering, and ongoing support services to help understaffed process plants achieve and maintain a high level of safety and regulatory compliance, without compromising either production or product quality.
Using a three-phase approach, Invensys application engineers work with plant operators and engineers to identify, implement and maintain alarm system improvements.
The first phase is the alarm system performance study and report. A baseline report of alarm system performance is generated. Performance targets are established based on Engineering Equipment and Materials User Association (EEMUA) best practices and an alarm system improvement methodology is suggested.
The second phase is alarm system performance improvement. It involves the development of an alarm system philosophy as well as alarm rationalisation and the implementation of alarm system changes. A final report documents actual alarm system performance improvements. The third phase is life cycle alarm maintenance, with field service technicians maintaining alarm system performance over time.
