MACHINE safety specialist Fortress Systems has introduced eGard, a fully modular approach to controlling access to hazardous machinery and equipment.
eGard features electrical operator controls as standard modules and other requirements of a gate switch.
eGard can even be used solely as a flexible, easily installed, control unit.
The device simply clips together and provides a vast number of options. Modules such as stop and start switches and indicator lights can be included in the one unit, with or without gate switch modules. This eliminates much of the wiring and connection time involved with control panels.
Ease of installation also provides a huge cost saving for specifiers. eGard is designed to fit straight on to standard extruded-aluminium machine guarding without the need for additional brackets.
The internal network is self-configuring, for easy installation and reconfiguring, and it features quick disconnects that allow for easy electrical installation and disconnection.
eGard can be easily connected to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and mimic panels, or used on an AS-interface network.
eGard can also be adapted to changing circumstances. As regulations or procedures change, modules can be removed and new features can be simply added to the unit.
eGard includes safe and standard I/O in one simple modular arrangement. It is engineered for Category 4 applications and is AS4024 compliant.
