Food Science Australia is a well established company that provides a range of services to its clients in Australia. Food Science Australia was formed as a result of a joint venture between CISRO (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) and the government of Victoria. Ever since its inception Food Science Australia has been providing valuable services to aid the food industry and the consumers in Australia.
Some of the major achievements of Food Science Australia have been the establishment of the Australian citrus juice industry by creating twenty plants with a total output aggregating to over 6.5 million litres per annum in 1943. Food Science Australia has also been actively involved in the mechanisation of the cheese manufacturing process, this has resulted in the cheese industry becoming a new export industry in Australia.
Food Science Australia is also involved in the discovery and the study of water activity for the growth of microbes and its prediction. This has formed the basis of the food preservation theory.
Some of the other areas that Food Science Australia has been involved in are the development of the spinning cone program, the development of the Ciuntercurrent extraction technology as well as the Siro-Curd process of making cheese and the Cheesebase technology.
