FLUKE Networks has introduced the MicroScanner Pro, a network cable verification and troubleshooting tool designed specifically for home networking professionals, datacom specialists and IT/network managers.
MicroScanner Pro tests both coaxial (RG6, RG59, etc, for CATV/CCTV) and all twisted pair cable (UTP/STP/SSTP) and troubleshoots other wiring for speakers, security networks or telephone cabling.
It verifies continuity and wiremap and finds opens, shorts, crossed pairs, split pairs or any miswires. It measures length and distance to fault using TDR (time domain reflectometry) for the most accurate reading. The length feature allows users to inventory cable or perform job costing on installed cabling.
The unit also has four unique toners for finding hidden cabling with a standard probe. With the room/office identifiers accessory, users can determine routing at the patch panel and document twisted pair and COAX networks easily.
MicroScanner Pro's new active network identification mode flashes hub ports and determines if a network tap is operating at 10Mbps or 100Mbps and whether it is full or half duplex capable, quickly identifying common incompatibility problems between the cable, components and other networked devices.
MicroScanner is part of the Fluke Networks MicroTools family of professional VDV products developed especially for electrical contractors. Fluke Australia 02 8850 3333.
