Pump case wear rings, throat bushings and impellers made from Vespel CR grade materials improve refinery oil and gas pump efficiency.  

Parts made from Vespel CR utilise a high performance Teflon PFA matrix with a specially-processed carbon fibre reinforcement.  

Vespel wear rings and impellers provide tighter clearances, increasing pump efficiency and reducing internal recirculation. Their low CTE (equivalent to metal) helps retain those tight pump clearances.  

Replacing metal wear rings with Vespel CR materials in refinery applications eliminates a fire ignition source and decreases the potential for pump failure. Additionally, longer part life translates into lower cost for repairs, creating a healthier bottom line.  

Performance and reliability in the refinery industry are linked not only to the bottom line but also the safety aspect. Vespel CR grade materials are ideal for crucial parts such as pump case wear rings and impellers since the CR parts retain their mechanical properties even at 550ºF while delivering chemical and creep resistance.  

Additionally, the CR products improve pump efficiency and offer low friction, high wear resistance, a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than steel and virtually no water absorption.
