Flexshield installed noise control barriers at a worksite in a residential area in Brisbane, Queensland to reduce noise from the contractor’s drilling operation.
The project involved drilling lines through the residential street to run electrical services, resulting in a noise problem arising out of the drill rig as well as site equipment such as the air compressor and generator.
The drilling company received warning from the Environmental Protection Agency following complaints by local residents about the noise levels. The EPA visited the drilling site to conduct noise testing and found the noise beyond permissible levels.
The project was instructed to cease operation, resulting in downtime and cost escalation for the contractor.
Within hours of first contact with the client, Flexshield delivered 50LM of Sonic noise control curtains to hang on the temporary fence that the client had already installed. The noise control curtains were quickly fixed to the fence and a second test was conducted by the EPA, following which the project was given the green light.
Flexshield manufactures a complete range of noise control solutions including noise control curtains that can be used on fencing, scaffolding and hoardings.
