Flexitank Australia (FTA) recently completed the second successful export to the Marshall Islands of made to order RainPac rainwater harvesting bladder tanks.
Seven RainPac bladder tanks were manufactured - five with capacities of 8700 litres each and two with 8000 litre capacities. The total capacity of the system was 59,500 litres of water, which is being used for water supply to all of the toilet systems of the island’s main educational facility, The College of the Marshall Islands, and also as a secondary backup to the college’s existing fire protection system.
The benefits of the RainPac system to our client included:
- Connection to the existing system was made simple and effective by the use of FTA’s exclusive 3” (75mm) male cam lock with ball valve fitting which was welded directly to each RainPac bladder tank. Each bladder was then connected to the piping via 3” reinforced flexible hose, meaning there is no stress on the fixed pressure piping feeding each of the RainPac bladder tanks;
- Given the isolation of the Marshall Islands, sea freight options were not available without a very long shipping time and relatively high costs. Utilising the RainPac system meant that the seven tanks and all required connections were transported in eight export cartons measuring 200 x 45 x 40cms, with an average weight of 200kg for the entire shipment. Air freight costs added less than 20% to the overall RainPac system price. The shipping time was then also reduced from nine weeks to 10 days. Our client could not find any other rainwater tank option which could be transported this way;
- The location of the installation meant that the access point where the RainPac bladder tanks were to be installed was only a small manhole measuring no larger than 80 x 80cm. The RainPac system, given its packaged size, tilted easily through this space without needing to be removed from its packaging, meaning all the bladders could be installed without any damage occurring;
- At the request of our client, FTA provided remote full installation technical backup, meaning install costs were kept to a minimum.
This is the second project for FTA with the New Zealand-based construction company that is looking after various refurbishment projects on the Marshall Islands.
Over the course of the projects, RainPac rainwater harvesting tanks have now provided more than 120,000 litres of precious rainwater storage, whilst utilising otherwise unused spaces to create vast water storage capacities.
FTA offers a full made to order customisation service of all RainPac products, as well as other products in our range. As an officially recognised Australian Defence Force supplier, as well as being the only bladder tank manufacturer in the Australian market to also market and sells its own range, FTA is now one of the premier niche manufacturers of a unique range of products which are exported all over the world.
