Flexicon Corporation (Australia)  announces the introduction of a new sanitary tilt-down flexible screw conveyor designed to fit tight spots, collect dust and sanitise easily.
The new Flexicon tilt-down flexible screw conveyor fixed on a castor-mounted frame can be manoeuvred through narrow aisles and around corners. The hopper, support boom and conveyor assembly can be tilted down, enabling the unit to fit through standard doorways while the conveyor tube can be oriented horizontally, allowing the flexible screw to be removed easily for thorough cleaning and inspection. The mobile conveyor frame is constructed of stainless steel or in carbon steel with durable industrial coatings, and can be finished to sanitary or industrial standards.
The flexible screw conveyors are ideal for transporting bulk ingredients ranging from sub-micron powders to large pellets, with the gentle rolling action of the conveyed material preventing the separation of blends.
The surge hopper of the conveyor is configured for dust-tight connection to the outlet of upstream equipment, and includes an air displacement vent with a cartridge filter that is equipped with a reverse pulse cleaning system to dislodge accumulated dust with short bursts of compressed air, returning the dust to the hopper on a timed cycle for superior operating efficiency.
Material flows through the hopper into an adapter that charges the conveyor. As the flexible screw rotates in the material, it self-centres within the tube, providing ample clearance between the screw and tube wall to eliminate or minimise grinding.
The enclosed tube prevents product and plant contamination and permits thorough wash-down. Removing a clean-out cap at the intake end of the conveyor tube allows rapid emptying and flushing of the tube as well as disassembly and wash-down of components.
With the rugged inner screw being the only moving part contacting material, maintenance is reduced. A broad range of specialised screws is available to handle free- and non-free-flowing bulk materials, including products that pack, cake, smear, seize, plug or fluidise.

Flexicon’s complete product range includes flexible screw conveyors, pneumatic conveying systems, bulk bag dischargers, bulk bag conditioners, bulk bag fillers, bag dump stations, drum/box/container tippers, drum fillers, weigh batching and blending systems, and engineered plant-wide bulk handling systems with automated controls.
