BRISBANE-based Fibre King completed commissioning in May 2006 of the large palletising system it installed in Finland on a turnkey basis.
The modular system includes two palletisers, two remote pallet dispensers and pallet board inserters running 1200 x 1000 and 1200 x 800 pallets.
Completed pallets are then stretch-wrapped and fed via 80 metres of Fibre King pallet conveyor through a -25°C cold store.
The system will run both cases and interlocking plastic totes. The product is identified via barcode on receipt at the palletiser/s which automatically change pallet size, pallet pattern and number of layers depending on the product type. The plastic totes require accurate placing to ensure they interlock correctly.
The installation in Finland in mid-winter had some interesting challenges. The equipment must be capable of being transported in -40°C in case of weather extremes and normal outside temperatures of -20°C were common - no doubt a bit of a change for the Fibre King team leaving Brisbane in mid-summer.
