FIBRE King is currently manufacturing a large palletising system for a Finnish company, which it will install on a turnkey basis in February 2006.
The modular system includes two palletisers, two remote pallet dispensers and pallet board inserters running 1200 x 1000 and 1200 x 800 pallets. Completed pallets are then stretchwrapped and fed via 80 metres of Fibre King pallet conveyor through a -25°C cold store.
The system will run both cases and interlocking plastic totes. The product is identified via barcode on receipt at the palletiser/s, which automatically change pallet size, pallet pattern and number of layers depending on the product type. The plastic totes require accurate placing to ensure they interlock correctly.
The installation in Finland in mid-winter will have some interesting challenges. The equipment must be capable of being transported in -40°C in case of weather extremes, with normal outside temperatures of -20°C.
"We are excited to be selected by the Finns to be part of a project that introduces new technology to the market,” said Fibre King CEO Earle Roberts.
“Competition on the palletising component was fierce from robot and layer type palletiser manufacturers.
“In the end we were up against a competitor based 30 minutes from the customers' site. A combination of our technology, customer references and commitment to service support prevailed."
"Finland has topped the World Economic Forum's Growth Competitiveness Index for the last three years,” said Mr Roberts.
“This means no other country is better placed for sustained economic growth than Finland and from next year a Fibre King palletising system will play a small part in Finland's continued leadership."
