Ruukki is all set to expand its global sales network for special steels by opening new offices and recruiting more than 40 experts to strengthen sales and technical services.
The company is pursuing growth in special steels in Asia, Africa and in the Americas as well as in Europe.
Planning to have its sales network cover all main market areas to support its existing network of partners, Ruukki will hire new people in the Americas, Africa, China, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Australia. New sales professionals will be recruited in almost all the European countries it has operations in, including Germany as well as Poland and other Eastern European nations.
Ruukki’s goal for the year is to transform its steels business into a special steels business consisting of high-strength, wear-resistant and special-coated steels. The company will simultaneously accelerate global sales of special steels by expanding and diversifying the distribution network and significantly strengthening the sales organisation. This spring, Ruukki opened new sales offices in Toronto, Canada and Santiago, Chile.
According to Thomas Hörnfeldt, SVP, Special Steels & International Sales at Ruukki Metals, close proximity to their customers geographically will enable them to deliver an even faster and more flexible service than before, especially within the construction and mining industries that offer significant growth potential in many developed and emerging markets.
Ruukki's specialisation in the steel business has proven successful with higher profitability of special steels over standard products along with smaller price fluctuations. Ruukki’s special steel brands include Raex, Optim, Laser and Ramor.
