FLSmidth has won a five year mining maintenance contract with SCM Minera Lumina Copper in Chile.
The company will have 110 staff supplying mechanical maintenance services to SCM's Caserones copper and molybdenum plant in the Andes Mountains.
According to FlSmidth this will reduce the miner's overall maintenance costs while at the same time help to increase overall production through higher equipment reliability levels.
"FLSmidth has many actives in Chile and we experience that our customers in the country generally have a positive and optimistic outlook for the future. With this new maintenance contract FLSmidth is undertaking two large maintenance contracts in Chile, and in combination, these contracts give us a strong foothold in the Chilean mining industry, while also opening up for other opportunities both in Chile and the region in general," the contractor's group executive vice president Bjarne Moltke Hansen stated.
The contractor declined to disclose the value of the win.
