Pocket-sized i5 camera from FLIR Systems

FLIR i5 camera
FLIR Systems has released its pocket-sized i5 camera, which is a thermography camera useful for electrical contractor, mechanical and building trades.
The FLIR i5 camera is developed to service the growing demand for cost effective and high performance thermal imaging cameras for commercial applications. Weighing just 340g (little more than a mobile phone) the FLIR i5 camera is a light and compact handheld infrared camera.
Roger Christiansz, Managing Director, FLIR Systems Australia said “The FLIR i5 camera is the recent product in our ongoing strategy to open large new commercial markets for infrared technology.
“Skyrocketing energy prices, unhealthy environments and subsequent maintenance issues in industrial, commercial and residential applications increase the demand for affordable instruments that quickly diagnose operational problems.
“The FLIR i5 camera is easy to use and requires no former experience. It really is a matter of point-shoot-detect to obtain high-quality infrared images that will immediately give you the infrared information you need,” he said.
FLIR Systems has considerably simplified the use of the infrared camera. The FLIR i5 camera produces instant, point-and-shoot JPEG infrared imagery that (as with every full-fledged infrared camera) carries all the required temperature data that can be stored internally or externally, sent and analyzed.
An infrared camera is a powerful maintenance tool, as in many instances equipment failure is preceded by a period of increasing heat. An infrared camera is also an excellent building inspection instrument, it quickly scans and identifies problem areas that cant be seen by the naked eye.
The FLIR i5 camera can also used for repair verification and insurance purposes:
- Detect hidden problems, make quick damage assessments and perform preventive inspections
- Survey buildings to find moisture and leaks
- Identify energy losses and poor insulation
- Spot electrical faults before its too late
- Produce instant infrared images of the findings
- Produce reports, analyse and document the findings with easy to use FLIR software
The FLIR i5 camera measures temperatures up to +250°C and detects temperature differences as small as 0.10°C, displayed on the cameras bright 2.8” LCD display. Its temperature measurement range suits most applications in electrical, mechanical, and building environments. A long-life battery ensures up to 5 hours of continuous operation.
The FLIR i5 comes with the FLIR QuickReport software for image analysis and easy creation of reports in PDF format, a 512MB mini SD Card, a Li-Ion rechargeable battery with charger, USB cable, hand strap, and manuals and user CDs available in 21 languages.
“Now, we offer the FLIR i5, a camera which is very affordable and which will find its way to many more businesses and users. The FLIR i5 will allow them to benefit from the advantages of infrared technology and to significantly expand their range of services.”
