EUROTHERM has released the Action G468 ac input field configurable isolator. It can isolate and condition any signal ac voltage signal from 0mV-50mV to 0V ac - 250V ac and 0mA-1mA to 0mA-100mA.
It can condition ac current signals up to 5A using a terminal mounting shunt. The UPAC range uses ASIC technology for improved reliability. Internal connections are reduced by up to 75%. Field flexibility is maximised by the range selection DIP switches, providing over 60 I/O configurations, with span and zero potentiometers for all nonstandard ranges. This flexibility can reduce spare parts inventory or increase the efficiency of the process by maximising resolution in process measurements. The dc output of the G468 is proportional to the average of the fully-rectified ac input signal and is calibrated for sine waves between 40Hz-400Hz. Typical accuracy for the G468 is 0.1% of the full-scale range.
All of the modules have 1800V, 3-way isolation to eliminate unwanted loops while protecting personnel and equipment. They are designed to be powered from a 9V dc to 30V dc supply. This allows them to be supplied from unregulated power supplies. They are built to withstand ESD and meet the IEC 801-2 standard. They also have a CMRR of 120dB, allowing them to operate in harsh electrical environments.
System fault indication is included as standard on the entire range, with LED indication of over and under-range provided for fast identification of input status. The universal mounting foot allows for both 32mm G and 35mm DIN rails. The G468 housing is 12.5mm wide, allowing high-density stacking. An alarm version is also available for providing a dual hi and hi/hi alarm output for ac voltage and current alarming.
