THE Eurotherm range of 100mm video graphic recorders can now be supplied with an optional portability case for applications where a fixed installation is not suitable or desired.
The portability case also allows for a number of input transducers to be added to allow the recorder to accept not only t/c, RTD, mV, V and mA signals, but also ac voltage and ac current signals for applications in power stations and mains monitoring.
With the addition of suitable cannon connectors the case can be made to accept almost any sensor input making the system suitable for almost any industrial environment.
Waste water, water treatment, environmental monitoring and datalogging, temperature profiling and refrigeration monitoring are amongst some of the industries currently benefiting from the convenience of portable recording options.
This latest range of graphical recorders makes the task of monitoring even easier with 1.44Mbyte floppy disk drives as standard, for simple down loading, retrieval and storage of data.
The new 5100 series data management systems are also provided with Ethernet comms as standard.
Factory floor sensors can to be directly connected to the existing office computer network via the 5000 Series allowing the operator to monitor and chart in real-time the performance of their plant from their desktop PC by simply interfacing the portable 5100 with a standard wireless Ethernet comms port.
The system can be left on site indefinitely with data automatically retrieved to the network via the wireless link.
The user has the choice of either downloading the data via the Ethernet comms on demand or the system can be setup to automatically download the data, thus eliminating the possibility of data loss from memory overflow.
For remote applications where connection to an Ethernet hub is not available, the 5000 series is also provided with an in-built 3.5" (1.44MB) Floppy drive.
Internal memory of 3MB standard (13MB standard for the 5180V) provides ample internal storage, while memory cards allow for up to 260MB storage should this be required.
The 100mm 5000 series screens are available in two models. Screens are full TFT colour LCD with a simple to use touch screen user interface for the "V" series while the econimical "e" series is provided with a STN screen.
The touch screen user interface allows the user to easily access bars and trend graphs, alphanumeric displays as well as customised user displays.
The base unit provides for six software configurable universal inputs - expandable to 12 ch. Inputs are electrically isolated and can be independently software configured for all standard process.
Inputs include thermocouple types (B, C, D, E, G2, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, U, Ni/NiMo & Platinel), 2 & 3 wire RTD (Pt100, Pt100A, Pt1000, Ni100, Ni120, Ni1000, JPT100 & Cu10), process inputs (millivolts, volts & milliamps) plus contact closure. This allows one recorder to monitor all process variables.
All channels are monitored simultaneously (parallel measurement), with scan rates up to 8Hz (125mS), allowing for simplified data comparison. Thus 125mS simultaneous recording of data can be achieved independent of the number of channels being recorded - be it a single channel or 36 channels.
The unit is IP65 rated when installed and is also available with an optional portability case for applications where constant relocation of the module is required.
Often the recorder is used to monitor the plant or line performance, in-built change-over relays allow basic alarming and if needed process shutdown without the need for external alarm modules.
Real-time viewing, logging and charting software is provided standard with the 5000 series for simple user friendly interfacing to the recorder.
The live data from the recorder can be monitored directly on any PC connected to the network using this software, which can be freely distributed.
This software provides the user with the ability to open multiple windows to simultaneously monitor as many recorders they require, do screen dumps of data, view historical data or export to a database file format for use with other Windows based programs such as Excel.
Up to four computers can monitor the data from a single recorder at the same time.
Advanced mathematical capability, the ability to group and view selective inputs and the ability to build custom mimic panel style screens allows the operator maximum flexibility when setting up their system.
This enables the operator to quickly and easily obtain and manage data about the current plant performance such that the plant can be optimised for maximum efficiency.
