THE Eurotherm 2000 series of precision controllers provide the 1/4 DIN (96 x 96mm) panel mounting frame size in a range of models from very basic, to advanced triple loop control with master ModBus communications and in-built HMI.
All models feature a modular design allowing for simple plug in configuration as required, reducing spare back-up and allowing simple future reconfiguration.
A universal process and temperature input on all models allows for nine internally stored thermocouple types (J, K, T, L, N, R, S, B & P) plus Pt100 and process inputs such as 4-20mA, 0-20mA, 1-5V or 0-10V dc while another 11 thermocouple are available as factory downloadable inputs.
To interface with modern fieldbus serial communications all models have plug in cards for ModBus and DeviceNet communications, with the advanced models also being available with Profibus communication capability allowing for easy connection to supervisory control and data logging systems.
Advanced PID algorithms provide stable 'straight line' temperature control. Self-tuning is included on all models to optimise the control performance without the need for specialist knowledge or training.
Dual four and five digit displays provide the operator interface, the functionality of which can be customised to present only those parameters that an operator needs to see and adjust, while all other parameters are locked under password protection.
Configuration is achieved either through the front-panel interface or by using Eurotherm's ‘iTools’ configuration package running under the Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP or NT operating systems, which can be utilised for all models in the 2000 Series range.
The base model 2204e is designed for precision control in basic processes such as oven and furnace control, cold storage facilities and extrusion control with optimised control for fan, oil or linear cooling.
The unit allows for four modular cards to be fitted, allowing for functions such as heat/cool/alarm logic, relay or triac output, and digital inputs, The 2204e also can provide dc analog control or isolated retransmission.
Basic heat treatment profiles using the internal ramp and dwell timer are also standard.
The 2404 provides all the features of the 2204e, with additional features allowing for a second analog input and full 16 segment setpoint profiling.
The 2408 can be utilised for single and multi-zone ovens, furnaces and kilns, environmental chambers and is suitable for simple cascade, ratio and override control applications.
The 2604 provides for full triple loop control strategies and introduces full hybrid control. Up to 50 setpoint programs can be stored, with up to three profiles run concurrently.
Advanced control for cascade, override and ratio control are standard function blocks, with melt pressure and vacuum furnace control functions also supplied as standard.
The high performance 2604 is suitable for the most stringent applications such as vacuum furnaces, melt pressure applications, autoclaves, test chambers.
Soft wiring, advanced maths functions, timers, totalisers, Modbus Master and slave communications, plus space for five multi-input I/O function cards, and an optional I/O expander provide true universal control flexibility.
The 2704 is the same as the 2604 but replaces the dual five digit display and two line matrix display with a full 160 x 120 pixel graphical display allowing for trending graphs and customs screen configuration. Eurotherm Australia 02 9634 8444.
