Wilson Transformer Company, a leading Australian manufacturer of power and distribution transformers will implement the next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution from Epicor Software .
Wilson Transformer Company becomes the first customer in Australia and New Zealand to implement the ERP solution’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capability.
Epicor Software Corporation is a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions for the mid-market and divisions of Global 1000 companies.
Employing a 650-strong workforce, Wilson Transformer Company has two specialised manufacturing operations based in Victoria, one for power transformers in Glen Waverley and the other for distribution transformers in Wodonga.
Wilson Transformer Company selected Epicor ERP through Epicor’s strategic partner, COGITA, which has worked with Epicor for more than ten years.
Recently named ‘Global Partner of the Year’ by Epicor for the third consecutive year, COGITA sells and supports Epicor ERP products for design-to-order, make-to-order, engineer-to-order, configure-to-order and mixed-mode manufacturing companies in the private sector.
As an early adopter of Epicor’s Vantage solution to support its financial management system and logistics operations, Wilson Transformer Company’s decision to opt for the Epicor ERP solution was based in part, on the company’s satisfaction with the product in addition to their requirement for a robust PLM system.
According to Ed Wilson, General Manager, Power Business Unit at Wilson Transformer Company, the platform and upgrade path offered by Epicor’s next-generation ERP solution would ultimately be a better fit for their organisation as it grew.
They were particularly impressed with the product lifecycle management capability offered through Epicor ERP, given that their business demanded complete visibility of all information pertaining to a specific product including specifications, design, client liaison, service, maintenance, manufacture and procurement terms.
Guy Barnsley, Mechanical Engineering Manager at Wilson Transformer Company, Power Business Unit explains that the out-of-the-box integration of the PLM system with Epicor as well as its integration with other third-party systems including 3D CAD was a huge plus.
The modern technology and flexible platform of Epicor ERP built on Microsoft .NET technology was also a very attractive proposition for the company.
He adds that the upgrade from Vantage to Epicor ERP allowed them to retain a strong ERP infrastructure with the additional integrated PLM component.
Charles Hamilton, senior regional director for Epicor comments that manufacturers all over the world enjoy Epicor’s ease of use, ability to adapt to business and industry-specific requirements as well as scalability.
Hamilton adds that the robust and flexible platform provided to Wilson Transformer Company will help them achieve a single version of truth across their business processes and value chain.
According to Roger Fairgray, Client Services Director for COGITA, Wilson Transformer Company will be leveraging the increased functionality and scope of embedded modules of Epicor ERP solution including Advanced Planning and Scheduling, Maintenance Management, Enterprise Quality Assurance, Enterprise Performance Management as well as PLM.
