Epicor Software announces that Gelita, the world’s leading supplier of collagen proteins has gone live with Epicor’s next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.

Epicor Software is a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organisations. The Epicor ERP solution supplied to Gelita will provide an integrated business management solution that will meet its complex process manufacturing, financial and reporting requirements.

Established in 1875, with a global turnover of approximately 940 million AUD and 2,500 worldwide employees, Gelita is the world's leading supplier of collagen proteins for the food, health and nutrition, and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to implementing Epicor ERP software in Australia, Gelita used three disparate systems, which made reconciliation and visibility of the company’s manufacturing processes difficult.

The Australian implementation will serve as a scalable template to be deployed to the Gelita global network of process manufacturing plants in China and New Zealand. While Epicor is being rolled out in their three China sites using the Australian experience as a master template, the ERP software will be implemented in New Zealand in 2014.

According to Rubens Maia, Project Manager, Gelita Australia, Epicor met their specific requirement for a system that could cater to their complex manufacturing process, and needed to be highly configurable. Being a process manufacturing company, Gelita has a highly complex business environment and therefore needed a system that had the flexibility to adapt.

To meet Gelita’s unique process manufacturing needs, Epicor ERP was extended to deliver a Blending Workbench, which according to Maia is critical to the organisation for the visibility it provides. Barcoding has also been implemented to give Gelita a massive improvement in the way manufacturing is done at the company.

Gelita Australia CEO Pablo Silber commended his own team and the important relationship with Epicor for the ease of implementation.

According to Craig Charlton, senior vice president and general manager for Epicor in Asia Pacific, Epicor next-generation ERP is a highly configurable, agile solution and the success achieved configuring a purpose-built process manufacturing solution such as the Blending Workbench can be attributed to the great work by both Gelita and the Epicor team.

Epicor plans to offer the Blending Workbench functionality to other process manufacturing deployments in Asia Pacific, extending their offerings in the process manufacturing industry.
