SOME of the world's most powerful hydraulic cylinders are available from Enerpac for the huge lifting tasks now becoming more common as resources companies extend mines, oilfields and associated transport, energy and materials handling infrastructure.

CLL series locknut cylinders, available from Enerpac, are designed for extra safety in heavy lifting and are produced in stock capacities of 50-1000t and strokes at 50-300mm.

Special 1500t and 2000t models are also available on request for tasks such as bridge lifting, beam support, infrastructure construction and machinery positioning and maintenance.

The single-acting, load-return series comprises 700 bar cylinders that are more compact and readily positioned than lower pressure cylinders of equivalent capacity.

Features include:

* Lock nuts to provide mechanical load holding for extended periods. Instead of relying solely on valves for load holding, this feature provides high safety during heavy lifts for maintenance and installation.

* Overflow port that functions as a stroke limiter for additional safety and longevity. Interchangeable hardened grooved saddles are standard for load security.

* Ability to withstand side load forces of up to 5% of rated cylinders capacity without scoring. A plunger wiper reduces contamination, extending cylinder life.

CLL single-acting cylinders are complemented by a wide range of double-acting cylinder types and by special-purpose cylinders designed for limited spaces, including RSM/RCS low-height cylinders and ultra-low profile CLP Pancake lock nut cylinders used on bridge and tunnel projects.

Enerpac also provides aluminium cylinders that weigh typically half as much as steel equivalents. These single-acting, spring return RACL cylinders - in capacities 20-150t and strokes at 50-250mm - are designed for maximum portability to remote sites and for minimum weight and ease of use when being positioned for tasks.

Cylinders can be complemented by remotely operated Enerpac Turbo, electric and petrol pumps for additional safety.
