According to Enerpac (A Division of Actuant Corp) , it is important to periodically test all precision torque tools to check the accuracy of torque output.  

Precision torque tools greatly enhance the safety and reliability of bolted workpieces by providing accurate and consistent fastening of plant and machinery ranging from pipelines, tanks and pressure vessels through to mobile machinery such as heavy trucks, earthmoving and tracked vehicles during servicing and maintenance.  

All manual, hydraulic and pneumatic torque wrenches as well as geared torque multipliers periodically require testing to determine whether the torque output of the tools remains accurate while correcting any tools requiring recalibration to allow output to match the preset readings.

Tony Brooks, Manager, Australia and New Zealand of global professional bolting tools and high-pressure hydraulic tools specialist Enerpac explains that torque output changes over time from the original manufacturer’s guidelines primarily due to wear. These potentially hazardous errors are corrected by torque tool testing and recalibration.  

Enerpac recommends a six-monthly calibration schedule to enhance accuracy, quality and safety of torque tools. With the upcoming maintenance season, these tools will be subject to extensive use throughout a host of industries.  

Enerpac National Distributor Cooper Fluid Systems has introduced an integrated torque test bench for repairing and calibrating precision torque equipment while making the calibration process fast and convenient.  

The torque test bench combines all the tools required to do the job into a single professional installation. A calibration certificate is provided on completion of torque tool testing to help safeguard safety and maintain accurate records.

  • Iml TSS-15k transducer: Capacity 20kNm and Accuracy ± 1%
